Before you do anything else, do this quick five-second test to make sure your site is EASY to use!

Just how important IS website usability?

For an e-commerce site, it's CRUCIAL. If people can't follow your navigation scheme, they won't be able to find your products...

... And if they can't find your products, how can they BUY them?

In fact, according to market research from the Gartner Group, more than 50% of web sales are LOST because visitors can't find what they're looking for!

With results like these, I firmly believe EVERYONE should test their sites for usability.

And with the five-second test I'm about to show you, you can find out key information very quickly:
  • Your visitors' first impressions
  • Major roadblocks in your site navigation
  • How well your web page communicates its MOST important content
Don't think five seconds is long enough to learn anything useful?

Well, that's roughly how long the majority of web surfers spend deciding if YOUR site has what they're looking for! (The maximum is 10 seconds.)

Here's what you do...

The Five-Second Usability Test

Step 1: Find several people who fit your target market and ask them to be your focus group.

Step 2: Give your users a focused goal. Let's say you sell computer software tutorials. The goal you give them might be something like, "Find tutorials relevant to your skills and interests."

Step 3: Display your homepage for five seconds, then ask your focus group to try to remember everything they see.

Step 4: Once you've removed the page, ask your test subjects to write down everything they remember about the page.

Step 5: Ask two relevant questions to see whether your page allowed them to find what they were looking for.

For example, "What kind of tutorials does my site offer?" or "Did you spot a tutorial that fits your current skill level?"

If any of your subjects AREN'T able to recall the most important elements on your page, make adjustments to your layout... then re-test.

That's it!

(Still in the planning stages of building your site? All the better to find out valuable info BEFORE you invest time and money in it...

... Just do the test using a sketch of your homepage.)

I'm just trying to come to the table prepared to work as efficiently and effectively as possible.

And I urge YOU to do the same!

See, whenever someone asks for help in starting their own business, I ALWAYS tell them this:

Begin by examining your own skills and interests.

... And so that's what I'm busy doing right now!

In my experience, people who build their business around their own personal interests or experience almost always tend to achieve success FASTER than people who don't.

It makes sense when you think about it...

People who follow their passions are the ones who are most motivated to do the work necessary to grow and improve their businesses.

So in order to make sure you're ready to make the most of what I'm about to teach you on April 21-24...

... so you too can set up a money-making website in less than a week!

I urge you to sit down and create a list of YOUR top 3-5 skills or interests. That way, you can put your learning to work right away!

"But I don't HAVE any unique skills or interests!"

... That's something I often hear from people who are just getting started online.

To them I say, "You're not looking hard enough!"

Unique skills and interests can come in a variety of surprising forms...

For example, knowing how to pass the exam required to become a firefighter is a skill on which you could base a money-making website. So is quilting, or collecting model trains, or kicking a bad habit like smoking or biting your nails.

Even knowing how to deal with a pushy mother-in-law is a skill you could use to make money online!

(Don't worry mom -- I'm not talking about you. ;-)

If you honestly believe you have no valuable skills or knowledge, you're selling yourself short. I'm certain that absolutely every single person on the PLANET has some kind of specialized knowledge or experience that could become the foundation of a website that SELLS.

However, if you find it difficult to pinpoint exactly what that specialized knowledge or experience is, don't worry! You're certainly not alone. A lot of people have trouble figuring out what makes them "tick."

You simply need to think about your life experiences.

Create a list of all the jobs you've ever had... all the hobbies you've ever pursued... all the volunteer work you've ever done... all the times you've helped someone and felt really good about it... all the challenging situations you've had to overcome in your life.

Then go through that list and pinpoint where your particular skills and interests lie.

Sound difficult? Don't worry, I'm going to make it easy by giving you...

"The BeBiz 'Special Skill Finder' Questionnaire!"

The following questions are designed to get you thinking about what really matters to YOU. Be sure to print this list and write your answers down -- you're going to want to refer to them later.
  1. Do you play any sports?

  2. If you had unlimited dollars and a week's worth of free time, what would you do? List the first activities that come to mind.

  3. What websites do you visit when you're just "surfing around" online? What topics do these cover?

  4. Have you ever won a trophy or award? What for?

  5. Have you ever been recognized for a contribution of services? What did you do?

  6. Do you have pets? What kinds?

  7. Do you have kids? What do you like best about being a parent? What do you find most challenging?

  8. Do you have any specialized education? Have you ever taken a class in a subject like pottery or sailing? Do you have any kind of academic continued education?

  9. Have you ever volunteered anywhere? What did you learn through this experience?

  10. Have you ever gone through a particularly challenging experience, and come out of it stronger than ever? What was that challenge, and what did you do to overcome it?

  11. What lifetime accomplishment are you most proud of? What did you learn from this experience?

  12. Do you have firsthand knowledge of any medical illnesses or issues? If so, which ones?

  13. Do you collect anything? If so, what?

  14. What television shows do you enjoy? What kind of music do you listen to? Do you ever attend theater events or other events related to the arts?

  15. Is there anything you've always really wanted to do or learn more about, but just haven't had the time?
Once you have finished, go over your answers to these 15 questions, paying special attention to the ones that got the strongest positive response from you.

These are the areas that are most likely to lead you to the ideal market you should target with your business.

Now narrow your list down to 3 to 5 topics you're truly passionate about. These topics are going to be the starting point of your research.

... So there's your "homework!" ;-)

All I ask is that you try to come to the table on April 21st with your list of topics in hand.

You'll find it MUCH easier to understand how to apply what you're learning to your OWN website if you already have some research topics to use as a starting point.

The U.S. economy (and by extension, the global economy) is experiencing a downward trend right now, and the ripple effects are being felt by everyone from Bill Gates to the smallest home business owner.

The best way to deal with an economic crisis is to FACE IT HEAD ON and look for ways to make it work FOR your online business -- instead of against it.

Keep your eye on the ball!

As an entrepreneur you want to make money as quickly as you can.

... Sometimes this translates into chasing after EVERY opportunity that comes your way -- and never following through to completion.

Does this sound familiar?

How many websites have you partly completed before moving on to the next potential opportunity? How many business opportunities have you bought into but never seen through to completion?

It's a curse that plagues many of us... but fortunately, it's easily solved, as long as you're conscious of it.

And to help you get there, here are 3 very simple things you can do to cut down on the distractions -- so you can focus on ONE solid opportunity at a time and see it through to completion before moving on to the next:

#1. Hit that "unsubscribe" button.

If you're suffering from "so many opportunities, so little time" syndrome, here's the first thing you need to do:

Choose your top 2-3 sources -- the ones who actually offer you good advice and whose emails you actually READ -- and then unsubscribe from everyone else's list.

For the most part, all you'll be missing out on is a bunch of emails trying to persuade you to buy something that you don't really need!

And once you've silenced all those unnecessary voices that try to entice you to dash off in a million different directions all at once, you'll find it much easier to think clearly and figure out what you need to do next.

2. Focus on ONE strategy at a time -- in a logical order!

Once you've freed your inbox from a whole lot of distracting emails, make sure you focus on one, and ONLY one, strategy at a time -- then follow each strategy through to completion before moving on to the next.

And make sure each strategy follows logically upon the next!

For example, it doesn't make sense to focus on SEO or traffic generation strategies before your site is fully set up. Being listed on 1,000s of sites isn't going to get you anywhere if your site can't take online orders.

You want to stay on target and make sure you don't get out of sequence.

Finally, don't just "cherry-pick" the strategies you like and assume you're going to succeed. Instead, you need to address each of the 4 steps to building a successful website - market research, product/service selection, sales process and traffic.

3. Once you've decided to start it... finish it!

Once you've built your site "from scratch" and taken it online -- no matter what that site is -- you are well on your way to online success.

It doesn't matter what the site is about... so long as you've found a niche where there are people looking for answers or products. THEN...


*Take that idea and RUN with it!*

Put it up, see what's working, tweak the elements. Traffic, opt-ins, sales... that's all that matters. When you have these elements working -- build it again in a new market or niche.

Every site you build will be better than the last.

If you get rich off your very first site, you've won the equivalent of a lottery.

Everyone I know who's making serious money on the Internet is doing so after their second or third site. Their secret advantage is the knowledge gained from creating their first site.

You learn from mistakes.

So quit chasing opportunities. Instead, chase methods that align with your goal. This might seem obvious, but it's amazing how many people hold off until they find a "magic" solution.

You may recall that back in the beginning of January I challenged you to make 2008 the year you finally got a business started online. Well, the first quarter of the year is now over, and I really would like to know:

... Are you making money on the Internet yet?


How much have you accomplished since January? Are you proud of what you've achieved -- or frustrated by how little you've done?

If not, do you feel like you're constantly burning rubber and going nowhere?

You need to ask yourself: Why?

There are 5 main reasons you may be suffering from "failure to launch"...

#1: You're Overwhelmed and Don't Know Where to Start

So many different experts say you have to do THIS first, or THAT. And you absolutely MUST buy THIS product, and THAT service -- and here's one that you can't live without! If you've been on a list of the mega-launches lately you'll know exactly what I mean.

It's enough to drive you BATTY.

My advice is do some research and find a proven, step-by-step method that walks you through every stage of building a business, so you know exactly WHAT you need to do and WHEN.

... Then stick with that system and follow it straight through from beginning to end -- without getting distracted by all the other possibilities out there.

Keep it simple and follow the basics... otherwise, you'll find yourself trying to run in a dozen different directions at once... and going nowhere fast!

#2: Fear of Technology

I see it when I talk to people at my seminars...

... I suggest they learn to do it themselves first -- so they can do as much of their own site management as possible -- and their eyes get that "deer caught in the headlights" look.

All I can tell you is, don't be afraid to learn something new! That old saying, "old dogs can't learn new tricks" doesn't apply here.

If you know how to use the computer to write letters... send emails... and surf the Internet, then you have ALL the skills you need to start an online business.

... You just need to know how to put them to good use!

Think of technology as a tool to take your ideas and bring them alive.

Find tools specifically designed so that ANYONE can learn how to use them -- even the raw beginner.

So don't let fear of the unknown stop you from taking action!

#3: Too Many Solutions to Choose From -- And You Don't Know Who to Trust

You sign up for a few online marketing newsletters, and download a few free eBooks -- then BAM! The product offers coming flying at you so fast and furious, it's like you're in a meteor storm!

And while you're busy sorting out which does what, you're ALSO being told that you've got to buy a domain name... and hosting services... and web design services (if you're not going to design the site yourself)... and possibly copywriting services (if you're not much of a writer)... not to mention a shopping cart and ordering system...

And then on to Web 2.0, blogging and marketing systems that you absolutely must have to make it big...

... It all leads to paralysis.


The best way to avoid this dilemma is start with the basics. Get your first website up and running -- it makes all the difference.

#4: Spending WAY Too Much Money, Way Too Quickly

This goes hand in hand with the last problem... With so many offers bombarding you daily, it's easy to fall into the trap of buying a bunch of different products all at once.

"It's a good investment in my business," you tell yourself.

But then you discover that some of those products only work for people who ALREADY have a money-making website... while others don't really fit your business model... while others are simply a huge waste of money!

... And the next thing you know, you don't have any time or money left to do the things you really DO need to build your business.

Resist the urge to whip out your wallet at every opportunity!

Like I said earlier, your best chance for success is to buy ONE step-by-step solution that walks you through every stage, and only buy other products when you absolutely KNOW you need them.

Everything you purchase needs to align with your goal.

#5: Holding Out for That "Million-Dollar Baby"

Many people dream of an Internet business that'll make them hundreds of thousands -- or even millions! -- of dollars a year. And they think that it's colossal waste of time to spend a single second on a business that'll make them anything less than that.

Wake up and smell the coffee, people!

Your first business probably WON'T generate a six-figure income right off the bat. (Yes, it CAN happen... but it's far more likely your first business will be in the $1,000 - $20,000/year range.)

And you know what? That's OK! In fact, it's better than OK.

Every single Internet millionaire I know got started by building just ONE small money-making website.
And then another website that made MORE money, and another that made even MORE money -- and so on, and so on.

And that's the best possible way for YOU to grow your online business.

With each website you build, you'll know more and be able to do it better -- which means each new site will make you MORE money than the last.

*But first, you've got to get off the couch and get started!*

Remember, every journey begins with a single step -- and the path to online success is certainly no exception.

However, that doesn't mean it has to be an uphill slog!
